How to download from YouTube with Y2Mate?
Follow these steps to save YouTube audio as MP3 or video as MP4. You can use the same process on a phone, tablet, or computer.
Copy the YouTube video link
Open the video on YouTube. On a computer, copy the link from your browser’s address bar. In the YouTube app, open the Share menu and choose Copy link.
Paste your link and choose a format
Return to Y2Mate and paste the link into the input field. Choose MP3 to save the audio, or MP4 to save the video with its audio. Press Convert and keep the page open while your file is prepared.
Download your file
Press Download MP3 or Download MP4 when the button appears. Your browser may save the file automatically, ask you to choose a location, or open an MP4 in a player. If the video opens, look for a download or save option in the player or browser menu. After saving, check your browser’s download list or your device’s Downloads folder.
How to download on a Mac?
- Open the YouTube video and copy its link from the address bar.
- Open Y2Mate in Safari, paste the link, choose MP3 or MP4, and click Convert.
- When the file is ready, click Download MP3 or Download MP4. If Safari asks for permission to download the file, allow the download.
- Click Safari’s Show Downloads button to check progress. Once the download finishes, click the magnifying glass beside the filename to locate the saved file in Finder.
To check or change the save location, open Safari > Settings > General > File download location. If you chose a folder other than Downloads, look there for your file.
If an MP4 opens in a player, look for a download or save option in the player’s controls or its Control-click menu. Use it if available; playing the video alone does not save it.
How to download on an iPhone?
- In the YouTube app, open the video, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open Y2Mate in Safari, paste the link, select MP3 or MP4, and tap Convert.
- Tap Download MP3 or Download MP4 when your file is ready. If Safari displays a download confirmation, tap Download. You can check progress using Safari’s Downloads button.
- Open the Files app and tap Browse. Look in the Downloads folder under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on your chosen save location.
To check the location, open Settings > Apps > Safari > Downloads. If you selected Other, find the file in that folder. On older iOS versions, Safari may appear directly in Settings.
If an MP4 opens in a player, open the Share menu and look for Save to Files. If offered, choose a folder and tap Save. Available options depend on the player and iOS version; playing the video alone does not save it.

Select Convert another to return to the form. Paste the next YouTube link, choose MP3 or MP4, and repeat the steps.
